With his announced in-ring return set for January in Tokyo, Japan, the drumbeat has finally begun on AEW TV for Kenny Omega’s eventual return to the promotion.

A 33-second video (seen below) ran for the first time during Wednesday’s Holiday Bash episode of Dynamite, showing Omega highlights but giving no indication as to when the former AEW World Champion is expected back.

Omega will take on Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th at the Tokyo Dome, a Forbidden Door-style event featuring wrestlers from NJPW, AEW, Stardom, ROH and CMLL. Unless he has a match before then, it will be his first in-ring competition since defeating Ethan Page on December 5, 2023.

Omega has been out of action due to several ailments and injuries including diverticulitis for which he underwent surgery for in May.

The 41-year-old did appear on AEW TV in May, but was attacked by the then-new version of The Elite which included the Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry. The Bucks will also compete at Wrestle Dynasty against the Great-O-Khan and a mystery partner for the vacant IWGP Tag Team titles.
