Former WWE champion recently signed contract with AEW

AEW has another former WWE champion under its roof as the former Kayden Carter reportedly signed a contract recently.

Fightful Select reported Wednesday that Lacey Lane inked a deal after her debut match with TBS Champion Mercedes Mone at October’s Title Tuesday edition of Dynamite. She previously wrestled twice in Ring of Honor in September, taking losses to both Mina Shirakawa and Lena Kross.

Lane previously held both the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team titles alongside Katana Chance. Both women were released this past May. While Lane has wrestled seven times since then, Chance has not as she has gone back to the world of American Ninja Warriors. She and Chance were called up to the main roster in June 2023.

Prior to signing with WWE in 2018, the 37-year-old trained at the Team 3D Academy with The Dudley Boyz starting in 2016. She later caught on with The Crash promotion in Mexico, winning the promotion’s Women’s title in January 2018. She dropped the belt just weeks before debuting in the 2018 Mae Young Classic, where she advanced to the quarterfinals before being eliminated by Meiko Satomura.
