Mercedes Mone posts teaser for AEW match against WWE’s Bayley

Mercedes Mone Tony Khan

On social media today, Mercedes Mone posted an interesting teaser for a match that, at least as it stands right now, is not contractually possible.

Mone — who won the Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament last night at Forbidden Door — shared a fan-made graphic on her Instagram stories hyping up a potential match against WWE star Bayley for AEW WrestleDream 2026. The graphic identified Bayley under her old wrestling name “Davina Rose,” and Mone was listed as being the AEW Women’s World Champion. Mone does not hold that title yet but will be challenging for the belt at All In this August.

The date and location for WrestleDream have not been announced yet. The pay-per-view traditionally takes place in October, and it’s not known whether Bayley would be interested or even contractually able to jump ship from WWE to AEW. As of the latest reporting, her contract was said to be coming up at the end of 2026. Bayley said on Insight with Chris Van Vliet in April 2025 that she had a year and a half left on her deal.

Bayley and Mone are close friends and have a long history as both on-screen rivals and allies from when Mone was in WWE as Sasha Banks. Since Mone departed WWE for AEW, Bayley has held onto hope that they would someday be reunited in the ring again but has never given any indication that she is looking to leave WWE.

A locker room leader in the women’s division, Bayley has expressed interest in possibly working behind the scenes in WWE whenever her time in the ring is over. She is set to feud with Lyra Valkyria going forward after their team split up with Valkyria turning heel on Raw last week.

Mercedes Mone vs. Thekla set for AEW All In 2026 —

At Forbidden Door, Mone defeated Maya World in a highly praised match to win her second consecutive Owen Hart Cup. Mone lost to then-champion Toni Storm at All In 2025 and is now set to challenge Thekla for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In 2026. The PPV is being held at Wembley Stadium in London, England on August 30.
