MJF is returning to the indies in January and for a group where he won the promotion’s first-ever championship.
Announced on Thursday, the man who will challenge for the AEW World title next Saturday at Worlds End will be part of Limitless Wrestling’s Limitless Rumble event on Friday, January 16 at Lewiston, Maine’s The Colisee.
The famed venue is where Muhammad Ali famously knocked out Sonny Liston in their 1965 rematch (aka the “Phantom Punch” fight).
The event will be headlined by Limitless’ version of a Royal Rumble match. It hasn’t been announced what MJF will be doing that night and if he will be wrestling, but he will be holding a ticketed VIP meet and greet before the show.
MJF won the promotion’s inaugural World title in March 2019 before losing it that September ahead of him heading to AEW.
The former champion won’t be the only AEW star on the show as earlier this week, Eddie Kingston was announced for his return to Limitless for the first time since 2018. The show will also feature a WWE ID Women’s title match between champion Laynie Luck vs. B3CCA.
