MJF returns at AEW Grand Slam Mexico, lays out path to All In: London
Former AEW World Champion MJF made his return at Wednesday’s Grand Slam Mexico with plenty on his mind.
Making his first appearance since losing his title to Kenny Omega last month, MJF attacked Andrade El Idolo from behind after his victory in a three-way to secure the top spot in the Casino Gauntlet match at this month’s All In: London. MJF had his Triple B World title belt in tow, hitting Andrade and then taking back his Dynamite Diamond ring.
He then got the mic and continued to deride both Andrade (“trash”) and Mexico (“a piece of sh*t country”) before moving on to Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay. He said Omega has a “toy belt” and said he will be part of a yet-to-be-announced qualifier for the number two spot in the Gauntlet so he can enter, win, and take his title back. He claimed he is the one true champion and that only the Triple B should be recognized.
MJF missed last month’s Redemption pay-per-view, but it’s unclear if it was due to an injury or time off. Our Dave Meltzer had reported that the Omega/MJF match that took place at the Beach Break edition of Dynamite was supposed to be at the PPV initially but got bumped up.
