CMLL women’s wrestler makes AEW debut on Collision

Olympia

CMLL women’s wrestler Olympia made her AEW debut on Saturday’s Collision from San Antonio, Texas.

She made her surprise appearance by challenging Taya Valkyrie in an MxM TV open challenge, dispatching the veteran in short order.

Olympia has competed in the Khan companies before, appearing twice for Ring of Honor this past September. She bested Viva Van in a Pure rules match and then lost to Billie Starkz in a quarterfinal in the inaugural Women’s Pure title tournament.

It’s expected the appearance will help build a future match with Mercedes Mone, who holds the CMLL Women’s title.

From our Dave Meltzer in this past Friday’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter from the previous Friday’s CMLL show:

“They did an angle in Arena Mexico for (WrestleDream) the next day that almost nobody was going to see and that social media might get out a little but not nearly enough. Mone then issued an open challenge to any woman in the back for the CMLL title. Olympia came out and Mone said she would defend against her, but in the U.S., so they are likely doing that match in AEW or ROH in the next few weeks.”
