Orange Cassidy on being labeled a comedy wrestler: ‘I don’t really disagree’
Orange Cassidy agrees that he’s a comedy wrestler.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, the popular AEW star didn’t disagree with the idea that what he does in the ring is comedy. At the same time, he tries to incorporate as many different styles as he can into his matches.
“When people refer to me as a comedy wrestler, I’m doing comedy wrestling,” he said. “I don’t really disagree because that is an element I would like to use. I was fortunate enough to be trained around and wrestled with a lot of different people with a lot of different styles. And I think to me that is where I find my most success is that I will try to incorporate as much of every style of professional wrestling that I can into my matches.”
“It’s a risk sometimes, you know,” he continued. “You don’t know if it’s going to work or not, but you have to try, and I don’t care, so I’ll just try. And I keep the stuff that works and ditch the stuff that doesn’t.”
Since returning from injury last fall, Cassidy has continued to team with his Conglomeration teammates, winning the Trios titles alongside Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly in April. Since them, they have been a successful trios team, retaining the titles as recently as this past weekend on Collision over Rush, Dralistico, and Sammy Guevara.
