Paul Wight gets in the ring before AEW Dynamite Beach Break

Paul Wight makes appearance during AEW Full Gear Tailgate Brawl

After months of physical absence, Paul Wight appeared before the July 8 edition of AEW Dynamite Beach Break and got physical.

Before the July 8, 2026 edition of AEW Dynamite Beach Break started airing, Wight appeared in the ring and saved Sting’s son, Steve Borden Jr., from an ambush.

Before Dynamite began, Borden Jr. and Kiran Grey were attacked by The Swirl (Blake Christian & Jay Lethal). However, Wight appeared just in time and saved them by attacking The Swirl. The moment marked Wight’s first physical segment in almost two years. While he often appeared on AEW television as a commentary figure, his last in-ring segment was at the 2024 Jericho Cruise.

Paul Wight’s history with Steve Borden Jr.’s father, Sting

In the late 1990s, Wight wrestled in WCW as The Giant. During his stint in WCW, The Giant engaged in several matches against Sting. The two even shared a run as the WCW World Tag Team Champions. The last time the two shared the ring was in 2016 during an episode of Monday Night RAW.
