Sting returning to action in street fight at AEW Revolution

For the first time since September 2015, Sting will return to action as TNT Champion Darby Allin’s partner in a street fight at AEW Revolution, the first match announced for the show.

Sting and Allin will face Team Taz members Brian Cage and Ricky Starks at the Saturday, February 27th pay-per-view. Taz issued the challenge to Sting and Allin on Wednesday’s Dynamite to which Allin replied, “Be careful for what you wish for because it just might happen.”

This will be Sting’s first match since his September 2015 loss to then-WWE World Champion Seth Rollins at the Night of Champions pay-per-view. After taking a buckle bomb, Sting suffered a neck injury and soon afterward learned he had spinal stenosis.

It’s unclear whether the match will be of the cinematic variety given the 61-year-old’s physical condition but considering the match type, it’s likely that is the case.

The WCW legend made his surprise AEW debut at December’s Winter Is Coming and has been thwarting Team Taz’s attacks on Allin ever since.
