Tony Khan strongly hints Swerve Strickland returning at AEW Redemption

Fans wondering why former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland isn’t on this Sunday’s Redemption pay-per-view may get their wish after all.

AEW head Tony Khan was asked about Strickland’s status on a media call Thursday and said he’ll be with him at this weekend’s Comic-Con in San Diego. He added that Strickland has been working on some things outside wrestling, but that he is “in very good standing with AEW” and instructed fans to stay tuned as “I’ll be happy to answer more questions about that after Redemption.”

Strickland hasn’t been around since losing to Will Ospreay in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament at Forbidden Door on June 28. He also was out of action for two months after losing to Kenny Omega in late-March, returning for the Owen Hart tournament at May’s Double or Nothing against Bandido.

Longtime Strickland rival Hangman Page is also not scheduled for the show, but Khan suggested his return is also imminent but wasn’t as strong about that happening in Montreal.
