TNT Champion Sammy Guevara suffers scratched cornea on AEW Dynamite

AEW TNT Champion Sammy Guevara suffered a scratched cornea during his title defense against Darby Allin on this past Wednesday’s Dynamite.

He revealed the news on Twitter Saturday:

His title defense against Andrade El Idolo on this Friday’s Rampage, set to be taped this Wednesday after Dynamite, is still on.

Guevara picked up the win Wednesday after Allin was taken out by an iPad shot to the head at the hands of Andrade. Guevara used the GTH to finish Allin off and after the match, Andrade then laid out Guevara with the iPad after a Matt Hardy distraction.

It was the second successful title defense for the two-time TNT titleholder after his defeat of Cody Rhodes to unify the belts when Guevara was interim champion. He is also riding a six-match win streak.

He doesn’t have a match booked for next month’s Revolution pay-per-view as of now. Either he or Andrade will await the winner of the Face of the Revolution ladder match to determine their next contender.
