Tony Khan to make announcement about AEW Collision debut show on Dynamite

AEW head Tony Khan will make an announcement regarding the debut edition of AEW Collision on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

The new two-hour live show kickoff will emanate from Chicago’s United Center on Saturday, June 17th. While he hasn’t been officially announced for the show, CM Punk has been planned to be a major part of Collision and could be the focus of Khan’s reveal Wednesday.

Also announced Tuesday night: for the first time since attacking Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing, Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita will appear on Dynamite to address the situation.

As Omega was about to win the Anarchy in the Arena for The Elite, Callis got involved as a distraction. Omega had cornered him when a masked Takeshita entered the ring and nailed Omega with a flying knee strike, giving Wheeler Yuta the opportunity to get the pin and win for the Blackpool Combat Club. Afterward, Callis choked Omega out with a belt.

It was Takeshita’s first AEW appearance since late-April. He and Callis aligned months ago with Callis trying to get him to align with The Elite. Callis turned on Omega during his cage match with Jon Moxley on a recent Dynamite, but Takeshita wasn’t involved.

Here’s the current lineup for the San Diego, California, event with more expected to be announced Wednesday:

  • Adam Cole & Britt Baker vs. Chris Jericho & Saraya
  • Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita promo segment
  • Tony Khan announcement about AEW Collision debut
