In his first comments since being released from AEW and revealing he is taking time away from wrestling, Trey Miguel shed some potential light on what might have resulted in his surprise exit before even appearing on screen.
Miguel took to X Monday with the following statement:
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my time. I’ve always apologized and did my best to put a better foot forward after. I don’t preach hate and I don’t take any pride in being hateful. I’m a man of faith, I believe in forgiveness and only ever preach that. I’m a different man today.”
He did not address his release.
On Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez reported that while there’s still not a lot of info regarding Miguel’s release other than that it didn’t have to do with AEW talent or Tony Khan, saying “my understanding is whatever it is, it came from up above.”
“Above” is being taken to mean AEW primary media partner WBD. While it has yet to be confirmed if that is the case, Miguel’s comments are being taken as alluding to past comments he made that are now coming back around including some homophobic comments in 2020 on Facebook while engaging with a fan and some anti-semitic comments on X in 2019.
The in-ring debut for Miguel’s Rascalz teammates in Zachary Wentz, Dezmond Xavier and Myron Reed has yet to be announced.
