Impact notes: New Digital Media Champion, ‘Speedball’ open challenge

After five title matches at Friday’s Impact Against All Odds, only one belt changed hands as Brian Myers became the new Digital Media Champion.

Myers defeated champion Rich Swann in a Dot Combat match on the Impact Plus special’s pre-show to continue the feud between Swann, Myers and former champion Matt Cardona.

The rules were no DQ and no countout with plenty of computer-related weapons involved.

The end came when Myers hit Swann with a keyboard followed by his running lariat Roster Cut move to get the clean pin. The win ends Swann’s 34-day run with the title.

This was a rematch from last month’s Slammiversary which likely means a rubber match is imminent.

After retaining the title in his first defense over Trey Miguel Friday, X-Division Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey intimated that he would open things up for an open challenge starting this Thursday.

This Thursday’s show will be taped on Saturday in Atlanta at Center Stage — the same venue as tonight’s Against All Odds were held in.
