Impact notes: Title change at TV taping, X-Division title tournament update

While full spoilers from Saturday’s Impact TV taping in Las Vegas have yet to come out, two details have emerged related to a title change and a former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion that is set to return soon.

The title change involved Joe Hendry defeated Brian Myers to win the Impact Digital Media championship, just weeks after Hendry made his return at Bound for Glory.

The match will air on one of the final two shows leading up to next month’s Over Drive streaming special.

The gold is Hendry’s first in Impact.

The impending return is that of Konnor of the former WWE NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension. Now working as Big Kon, PWInsider reported that he is expected to be part of the latest version of Violent by Design. Another new member — Alan Angels — aligned himself with VBD during Friday’s taping.

Kon made an appearance in January, losing to Josh Alexander and Eddie Edwards in separate matches.

PWInsider also is reporting that several of the X-Division Title tournament matches will air on Impact’s BTI pre-show as a way to give the matches more time and to provide an incentive to watch said show.

Announced during the weekend’s tapings: February’s No Surrender streaming special will be held at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas on February 14th with two nights of TV tapings (February 25th and 26th) to be held in the same venue.
