TNA Emergence notes: JBL debuts, Alisha Edwards knocked out, new X-Division champion

Former WWE star JBL made his TNA Wrestling debut on Friday’s TNA Emergence, continuing a recent storyline of him appearing at events as a surprise.

Following TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth’s successful title defense over Josh Alexander in the 60-minute Iron Man match main event, JBL came out from the back to eye down Nemeth, whisper something to him in the ring, and then leave.

It was a scene reminiscent of AAA Triplemania two weeks ago when he accompanied Nemeth to the ring for his Mega title defense against Alberto El Patron. He later joined the new heel faction of Konnan, Patron and Dorian Roldan, shaking Patron’s hand.

Last weekend, he made his GCW debut by taking out Effy in a four-way ladder match for the undisputed GCW title, paving the way for Mance Warner to climb a ladder to win the title.

Alisha Edwards is reportedly ok after being legitimately knocked out during a women’s trios match.

In the opening moments of a bout featuring Edwards, Masha Slamovich & Ash by Elegance against Jordynne Grace, Dani Luna & Jody Threat, the heels were on the floor with Grace, Luna and Threat in the ring. Grace threw Threat and then Luna onto the heels at which point Edwards got knocked out. Grace prepared to dive onto Edwards, but stopped as no one was there to catch her. Edwards didn’t get up afterward as the other women tried to help her up without knowing she was unconscious.

Medical personnel tended to Edwards leading to Tommy Dreamer eventually coming out and carrying her back. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp later posted on X that Edwards “seemed to be handling things okay backstage.”

Grace posted this on X after the match:

The Rascalz’s Zachary Wentz is the new TNA X-Division Champion after winning the title during the night’s Ultimate X match.

Wentz was battling with incumbent titleholder Mike Bailey in the five-man bout, and the two were hanging by their legs and trading shots in trying to get the belt to win the match. Wentz knocked Bailey off and unhooked the belt to win the bout.

It’s Wentz’s first singles title in TNA. He will now face Wes Lee at Sunday’s WWE NXT No Mercy.
