TNA Victory Road notes: New champions crowned, Arianna Grace & JBL appear

Friday’s TNA Victory Road streaming special saw three new champions crowned.

Just two weeks after winning the gold in an Ultimate X match, Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz lost it back to former champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey. The end came when Bailey countered a UFO cutter with a Flamingo Driver to win the title and kick off his third reign as champion.

Later in the show, Spitfire (Dani Luna & Jody Threat) avoided having to split up as they defeated the makeshift team of Masha Slamovich & Tasha Steelz for the Knockouts Tag Team titles.

Steelz was a fill-in for Alisha Edwards who wasn’t cleared to compete following a recent injury during a match. After the match, Edwards confronted Slamovich about losing and slapped her. Steelz then attacked Slamovich and aligned with Edwards.

The win ends the 133-day reign for Slamovich and begins a second run for Spitfire after their first one lasted just 56 days.

The System did rebound as Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards regained the TNA Tag Team titles, defeating ABC. The end came when Alisha got involved during the match, grabbing Chris Bey’s ankle. That gave her husband, Eddie, the opening he needed to hit the Boston Knee Party for the pin and win.

It’s Edwards’ seventh reign with the titles and his second reign with Myers. The win ends the 55-day third reign for Bey and Ace Austin.

In the other two title matches, TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth successfully defended against Moose in the main event while Jordynne Grace defeated NXT’s Wendy Choo to retain the Knockouts title.

As part of Nemeth’s win, JBL once again appeared for the second straight streaming special, this time getting physical by taking out the aforementioned Edwards and Myers with pair of Clotheslines from Hell so they couldn’t interfere.

In a full circle moment, TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella reunited on-screen with his daughter, current NXT star Arianna Grace. Earlier this month, Grace was named the official liaison between TNA and NXT with Marella saying he wants to keep things professional between them. The clip was originally shared by TNA on their X account, but they deleted the post.

Joe Hendry was announced as appearing on this Thursday’s edition of Impact which will be taped Saturday in San Antonio.
