Report: Cain Velasquez to wrestle on AAA New York and LA cards

According to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will continue his pro wrestling career on two U.S.-based AAA cards this year.

Citing sources, Raimondi, who had access to Velasquez prior to his wrestling debut at TripleMania, said the 37-year-old will be part of AAA’s September 15th show at New York City’s Hulu Theatre and their October 13th show at Los Angeles’ Forum.

Velasquez made his official debut this month at AAA’s TripleMania event, teaming with Cody and Psycho Clown in a six-man tag match. The company has not officially announced him for either show.

On Friday, AAA announced the New York show was moving from Madison Square Garden to the Hulu Theatre.

Raimondi said Velasquez does plan on returning to MMA where he has fought sparingly over the past few years due to injury. His last fight was a quick FebruaryTKO loss to Francis Ngannou in Phoenix where he sustained torn knee ligaments.
