Low KI, ACH advance to MLW 2020 Opera Cup semifinals

The semifinals of the 2020 Opera Cup are now set following Wednesday’s edition of MLW Fusion.

In one quarterfinal, Low Ki got a measure of revenge against 2019 winner Davey Boy Smith Jr. to advance in the show’s featured match.

Ki was mounted on Smith’s back and when Smith tried a front roll to escape, Ki held onto his legs to get the pin in a nod to how Smith defeated the former MLW World Champion in the opening round of last year’s tournament. It was revealed Thursday that was Smith’s final match with the company.

In the other quarterfinal, ACH made his MLW return a successful one, defeating AAA Cruiserweight Champion Laredo Kid in the show opener. The end came when ACH hit a step-up knee to Kid while he was on the top rope, following it up with his brain buster finisher.

Low Ki will face Carribean Champion Richard Holliday on next week’s Fusion while ACH will take on “Filthy” Tom Lawlor in two weeks with the winners moving on to the Opera Cup finals.
