AEW's Red Velvet & KiLynn King set for NWA Empower tag tournament

There will be AEW representation in the NWA Women's Tag Team title tournament at Empower.

The NWA announced today that Red Velvet & KiLynn King will be taking part in the Women's Tag Team title tournament at Empower. The one-night tournament will feature four teams in total, with the winning team becoming the new NWA Women's Tag Team Champions.

The Hex (Allysin Kay & Marti Belle) and Hell On Heels (Sahara 7 & Renee Michelle) have also been announced for the tournament.

The NWA Women's Tag Team titles are being reintroduced in the tournament.

Red Velvet unsuccessfully challenged for Britt Baker's AEW Women's Championship in the main event of last Friday's premiere episode of AEW Rampage.

It was also announced today that Thunder Kitty will be one of the entrants in the Women's Invitational Cup at Empower. The winner of the gauntlet battle royal will challenge for the NWA Women's Championship at NWA 73 the next night.

Mickie James is the executive producer of Empower. The PPV is taking place at the Chase Park Plaza hotel in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, August 28. NWA 73 will also take place at the venue.

Here's the updated card for Empower:
