Sabu to have retirement match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break

The long career of Sabu will come to an end at Joey Janela’s Spring Break this April.

The news came during Sunday’s The People vs. GCW following Janela’s win over Sabu’s ECW contemporary Masato Tanaka. The lights went out and a career retrospective video aired before Sabu appeared behind Janela.

Janela then offered up a challenge for Sabu to have his retirement match against him at the ninth edition of his annual Spring Break show that takes place during WrestleMania weekend as part of GCW’s Collective events.

The show will take place on Friday, April 18th.

Sabu said in 2024 that GCW wanted to host his final match in January (assumed to be at Sunday’s show) but that he wasn’t going to be ready and wanted it in Las Vegas instead. He was inducted into the Indie Hall of Fame last year, but no showed the ceremony after changing his mind.

The ECW legend, who also wrestled for WWE, WCW and TNA in his 30+ year career, hasn’t wrestled since July 2021.
