Nigel McGuinness returning to action at ROH Supercard of Honor

Former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness is returning to action at next month’s ROH Supercard of Honor with a future title shot in mind.

In a clip shared to social media, McGuinness addressed former Pure Champion Josh Woods who has gone 3-0 since losing to reigning Pure champion Lee Moriarty in March in search of a rematch. Woods issued an open challenge as part of Friday’s ROH TV.

McGuinness answered the challenge.

“If you can’t beat me, you can’t beat Lee,” he said. “And if you can’t beat me, Lee…I want one more shot for the Pure title. If I can’t beat you in a third time, I’ll go quietly into the night.”

He then accepted Woods’ challenge for the streaming special, set for Friday, May 15 in Salisbury, Maryland. It will be their first ever clash and will be held under Pure rules.

The 50-year-old AEW announcer has competed sparingly since coming back in 2024 at All In: London, his first match in 13 years. He’s wrestled seven additional times since then, including two matches against Moriarty. The last was a 30 minute Iron Man match at last December’s Final Battle.
