Sami Zayn mockingly acknowledges Finn Balor’s frustration over WWE SummerSlam setback
Sami Zayn poked fun at Finn Balor’s reaction to his WWE SummerSlam setback.
Zayn responded to Balor’s post on X addressing the disappointment after losing the No.1 contender match at SummerSlam. His cheeky reply featured the James Franco ‘First Time?’ meme from ‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’, which shows Franco’s character standing on the gallows with a noose around his neck, asking another condemned man beside him if it was his first time. It was a shoutout to Zayn’s current predicament with WWE’s booking.
Zayn’s frustrations were magnified after CM Punk’s return in early July, and ended his barely 10 day Undisputed WWE Championship reign. Adding to his disappointment, on Night Two of SummerSlam, Zayn and Balor were to collide in a No.1 contender match for the title but Gunther and Kevin Owens were added to the lineup at the last-minute. In the end, Owens pinned Zayn, his longtime friend, to proceed in his quest for gold.
Balor’s struggles and pursuit of WWE gold has not been limited. However, events at the PLE thwarted his search for another major title opportunity.
