VIDEO: Sami Zayn cuts heated promo after WWE title loss

WWE has uploaded a heated promo from Sami Zayn addressing his Undisputed WWE Championship loss.

Just nine days after his reign began, Zayn dropped the title to CM Punk in the main event of Raw last night. It was originally advertised to be former champion Cody Rhodes challenging Zayn, but WWE ran an angle where Punk — making his hometown return in the Chicago area — subbed in after Rhodes had been attacked by Gunther.

Zayn spoke backstage immediately after his loss and questioned how Punk was able to get a shot after being away for months.

“I have a question,” Zayn said in his promo. “How is it that after 24 years of crawling and inching for every little inch to get the WWE Championship, after I finally get it — nine days after I get it — that piece of sh*t can walk back in here after not being here for months — for months — and waltz right in and get it? Get a chance? That motherf***er! He has no business! No business!”

This was the first World Championship reign of Zayn’s WWE career. He won the title at Night of Champions on June 27 in a triple threat match that included Rhodes and Gunther.

CM Punk headed to WWE SmackDown —

Before returning last night, Punk had been absent from WWE programming since shortly after WrestleMania 42. He lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at Mania but is now headed to SmackDown to be the top champion of that brand. It’s expected that Punk will defend against Rhodes at SummerSlam this August.

WWE has confirmed that Punk will be in the building when SmackDown takes place from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City this Friday.
