Seth Rollins gives his take on Nick Aldis’ WWE SummerSlam match: ‘Let’s see what he’s got’
While promoting his match against Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam, Seth Rollins highlighted another feud that has caught his interest and it has nothing to do with his former rival, CM Punk.
On Busted Open Radio, the former World Champion exclaimed eagerness on Nick Aldis’ WWE in-ring debut at the upcoming PLE. He explained that the other matches like Cody Rhodes and Punk’s Undisputed WWE Title match, and Oba Femi’s collision with Brock Lesnar inside the Hell in a Cell already gave a glimpse of what to expect. However, the pressure and stakes are high for Aldis in his bout against Gunther.
“I think anytime anybody’s coming off of a long hiatus, and has never really laced up the boots inside a WWE ring, there’s a ton of intrigue, and so actually, the Gunther – Aldis match is one that kind of has my attention. The other ones, you kinda know what you’re gonna get. I don’t mean that in a bad way. You know that Hell in a Cell’s probably gonna be a war, you know what you’re gonna get with Punk and Cody (Rhodes). You’ve seen them at their peak. I think there’s the mystery of ‘What does Nick Aldis have in the tank?”
“Now we see Aldis in the shirt every week on Friday. He looks fantastic, he looks full, the chest, he looks great, and he’s not even 40 years old. He’s still younger than I am actually, which shocked me. I didn’t know that. Let’s see what he’s got. It’s really his WWE debut and it’s on a massive stage, so I’m really looking forward to seeing that.”
Rollins squares off against his former Shield teammate for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
Meanwhile, Aldis, who debuted in WWE in 2023 as the SmackDown General Manager, will step in the ring with Gunther. This marks his first match on the promotion following the tensions that escalated with The Ring General’s antics towards him after losing multiple matches for the Undisputed WWE Title. Aldis retaliated at SNME on July 18 costing Sami Zayn and Gunther a high-stakes bout for the championship.
After a heated confrontation that came to blows at the WWE SummerSlam Kickoff Show, Triple H announced a grudge match between Gunther and Aldis.
