Contract expiration may have caused TNA on AMC premiere lineup change
The contractual status of The Rascalz may have affected an X-Division title match set to take place at this Thursday’s TNA Impact on AMC premiere.
First noted by PWInsider on Tuesday, TNA is no longer advertising the previously announced X-Division title match between Leon Slater and Myron Reed of the group. While Slater is still being promoted in media releases, Reed is not.
One reason for that, according to the outlet, is that Reed, Zachary Wentz, Trey Miguel and Dezmond Xavier are all free agents following their respective contract expirations at the end of 2025. They specifically noted that TNA did not pick up options for Wentz and Miguel, and the belief is all four men are free agents.
There is also some independent speculation that WWE’s interest in having Slater be part of their European tour may be a contributing factor, a report that also came from PWInsider. However, it’s unknown if WWE would potentially pull Slater from the high profile premiere to do that.
As early as mid-November, it was reported that the contractual future for all four Rascalz were up in the air and that Xavier, the former Wes Lee in WWE NXT, had not signed a new deal when he made his return after his WWE run came to an end.
Slater’s X-Division title defense against Moose and Cedric Alexander for this Saturday’s Genesis pay-per-view is still on the docket.
