TNA reveals plans to crown first-ever Knockouts Television Champion
TNA Wrestling has officially announced a new championship.
TNA Hall of Famer Traci Brooks appeared on the Slammiversary pre-show today at Agganis Arena in Boston. She revealed that beginning on Thursday’s edition of TNA Impact, a 16-woman tournament will start, with the winner being crowned the first-ever TNA Knockouts Television Champion.
Brooks also revealed that the title will be defended exclusively on episodes of Impact Wrestling, saying:
“Starting this Thursday night, there will be a 16-woman tournament beginning. And at the end of that tournament, we will crown the first-ever TNA Knockout Television Champion.”
“This championship will be defended exclusively on Impact television. And to my Knockouts, this is an opportunity once again to prove why you are the greatest women’s division in professional wrestling. Ladies, let’s make history.”
Brooks made the announcement shortly after the night’s opening contest, which was a three-way match won by Elayna Black against Mara Sadé and Indi Hartwell.
News that TNA was discussing adding a new title was first reported on Wednesday by Fightful, who noted that the company was looking to add a mid-card title for its Knockouts division.
