TNA wrestler cleared to return from injury
Though he wasn’t able to make it back in time for Slammiversary, Trey Miguel is now medically cleared to compete.
Miguel told Local 4 News in Detroit that he was given the okay to return this Wednesday, just a few days after Slammiversary. He has started working as a coach at Grind Time Wrestling Academy in Michigan. The school had its grand opening this week with Darren McCarty — a former Detroit Red Wings player and occasional in-ring competitor — listed as a key figure behind the venture.
“I’ve been out for four months because of it,” Miguel said about his injury. “I was cleared yesterday.”
Miguel has been sidelined since breaking his patella at TNA Rebellion this April. Despite the injury, he was able to finish his match against Mustafa Ali, who defeated Miguel that night for the TNA International Championship.
On Sunday, Miguel posted that he really wanted to wrestle at Slammiversary but couldn’t be cleared in time. He congratulated everyone for the performances they put on at the pay-per-view.
“Second Slammiversary in a row I missed. Missing today hurt a little different,” he wrote. “Congrats to everyone who worked their ass off today to put on another great PPV. I really tried to push hard enough to be cleared by today.”
At Grind Time Wrestling Academy, Miguel will serve as a coach for beginner-level classes.
Trey Miguel’s TNA contract —
It was announced last month that Miguel has signed a new contract with TNA, though terms of the deal were not disclosed. Miguel briefly joined AEW at the start of 2026, but he was released by the company over what was believed to be WBD refusing to allow him on TV due to offensive social media posts Miguel made in 2020. He considered retiring after that situation but ultimately returned home to TNA.
