Conor McGregor in police custody after Thursday incident

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is in New York police custody Thursday night following a day in which he threw a metal dolly through a van window, injuring several fighters that resulted in multiple fights being canceled.
Both TMZ and Newsday’s Marc La Monica reported the news with La Monica tweeting an NYPD statement that read, “Mr. McGregor is in the custody of the New York Police Department. No formal charges have been filed and our investigation is ongoing.”
NBC News tweeted that McGregor is at the “NYPD’s 78th precinct where he is expected to be charged with assault following an incident in Brooklyn, New York, according to two senior New York City law enforcement officials.”
The 29-year-old made news as he and a large group of men crashed the Barclays Center Thursday afternoon, apparently in an effort to gain a measure of revenge against Khabib Nurmagomedov following a confrontation he had with McGregor teammate Artem Lobov. Lobov was removed from Saturday’s UFC 223 after today’s events.
Also removed from the show was Michael Chiesa vs. Anthony Pettis and Ray Borg vs. Brandon Moreno due to glass-related injuries suffered by Chiesa and Borg.
