Conor McGregor reveals extent of injuries, when he hopes to return to UFC
After Dana White said late Saturday night that Conor McGregor suffered a torn ACL, the former two division UFC champion went a bit further into his injuries on social media Sunday.
McGregor said the injury was “an ACL and meniscus” and that it was the same injury he suffered in his left knee when he first fought Max Holloway in August 2013. McGregor sustained the right knee injury at this month’s UFC 329, lasting just 69 seconds after landing awkwardly on a kick attempt to open the first round.
It was McGregor’s first UFC fight in five years and drew a record gate at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
McGregor remained upbeat, writing that when he sustained the initial injury, he returned to fight within nine months.
“With today’s regenerative medicine advancements and improved training methods it is well within my realm to return by next summer,” he wrote, adding he walking without a crutch and did leg extensions on a machine “to no issue.”
Initially, he was hoping to fight by April 2027 in the final fight of his current UFC contract.
