At the UFC's post-event press conference Saturday, Dana White said that middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will challenge light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz for Blachowicz's title.
White said that he wanted former champion Robert Whittaker to challenge Adesanya again, but Whittaker had an interview saying he didn't want the fight ("the craziest sh*t I have ever seen") so Blachowicz seemed like the next logical choice. There was no date or timeframe given for the fight.
When asked about whether former champion Jon Jones could face Adesanya with a win, White said he liked that idea.
The undefeated Adesanya (20-0) recently ran through Paulo Costa in September to retain his title for the second time. Blachowicz won the vacant title with a second round TKO win over Dominick Reyes after Jones relinquished the belt earlier this year after a dispute with the UFC over money for a potential fight with heavyweight Francis Ngannou.
