AJ Styles reportedly signed WWE contract extension

The WWE contract status of AJ Styles has been a question for some time with a new report out Thursday shedding some potential light on it.
Fightful Select reported that according to sources, Styles told those close to him that he signed a one-year extension. The outlet didn’t have clarity on when it was signed and when it ends.
In April 2022, he said he picked up an option to extend his contract but didn’t clarify how long it was for. It’s also unknown if WWE added injury time due to some lengthy absences.
The freshly turned 48-year-old said earlier this year that he promises he will call it quits before he turns 50 and isn’t afraid of retirement. In the aforementioned April 2022 interview, he said he doesn’t want to work anywhere else and would love to work within WWE if he had the chance.
Styles is coming off back-to-back June wins over Chad Gable and JD McDonagh. He hasn’t wrestled since June 16.
