Cody Rhodes shares big help he got from DDP between WWE stints

Between WWE stints, Cody Rhodes benefitted from receiving “millions of dollars” in free production from a Hall of Fame friend.

Rhodes had Diamond Dallas Page, a longtime friend of the Rhodes family, on his “What You You Wanna Talk About?” podcast this week. During the conversation, Rhodes shared how helpful DDP and his business partner Steve Yu were during the time Rhodes spent on the indies and with AEW. Their Georgia-based Comeback Studios did a lot of free production work for Rhodes during this period.

“My time away from WWE and my time starting anything on my own is heavily reliant on millions of dollars — and I am not exaggerating, millions of dollars of production that was given to me for free by Steve Yu and yourself and your wonderful team there,” Rhodes said. “To the point now where WWE knows, and I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, WWE knows in a pinch if they need me to do an interview, in a pinch if they need me via Zoom, if they need me to film something, if they need a place, a studio, that’s where they go.”

DDP operates his DDP Yoga company and Comeback Studios out of Smyrna, Georgia. They produce documentary-style content on YouTube, and Yu was the director of the 2015 documentary film “The Resurrection of Jake the Snake.”

Potential upcoming WWE appearance for DDP —

Fans could see DDP, a WWE Hall of Famer and former WCW World Champion, show back up on WWE programming soon. WrestleVotes reported last week that WWE has internally discussed a potential DDP appearance, which would likely be a one-off rather than a recurring role.

Rhodes is the current Undisputed WWE Champion and is set to defend the title against Gunther on SmackDown this Friday. Sami Zayn will be the special guest referee.
