Eric Young's WWE role update | Exclusive

Eric Young is no longer a part of TNA Wrestling and is reportedly on his way to WWE, where he is expected to play a different role.

On Wednesday, TNA shared a press release announcing that Young and the promotion had come to terms on his release. Fightful Select later reported that their WWE sources expected his return, noting that Young had maintained a positive relationship with Triple H, leaving the door open for his comeback.

Now, our Bryan Alvarez has shared another report talking about his new role in WWE. “Eric Young expected to be a ‘player/coach’ in NXT,” wrote Alvarez.

Young debuted for TNA as a member of Team Canada in 2004. He remained with the promotion before signing with WWE in 2016. He was later a part of WWE’s roster cuts announced on April 15, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Soon after, he returned to Impact Wrestling before exiting in late 2022 to re-sign with WWE. However, he never appeared on-screen during his second WWE run. Young returned to Impact in the summer of 2023 and stayed there until his recent exit in 2026. Young, 46, is a former multi-time TNA/Impact World Champion as well as an X-Division Champion, alongside multiple other titles.
