ESPN introducing ‘Moment of the Night’ title belt for WWE PLEs
Starting with SummerSlam this weekend, ESPN is introducing a new way to celebrate standout performers at WWE PLEs.
A custom ESPN title belt has been created to honor the “Moment of the Night” winner at WWE PLEs. The belt is black and red and has WWE, ESPN, and SportsCenter branding, so the Moment of the Night will presumably be awarded on SportsCenter after each PLE ends.
ESPN wrote that the honor will celebrate “the most impactful performance, storyline or match moment from each WWE Premium Live Event.”
- ESPN will introduce a custom ESPN championship title as part of its new ‘Moment of the Night’ recognition, celebrating the most impactful performance, storyline or match moment from each WWE Premium Live Event. The title will also be incorporated into fan-facing content, creator integrations and on-site activations throughout SummerSlam weekend.
WWE SummerSlam 2026 —
SummerSlam is taking place from US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis this Saturday (August 1) and Sunday (August 2) and will air live on the ESPN App for Unlimited plan subscribers in the United States. Because the WWE-ESPN deal began in September 2025, this is the first SummerSlam of the ESPN PLE era. ESPN’s promotional push for the event also includes a Danhausen-themed popsicle truck that is present in Minneapolis this week.
Each night of SummerSlam has a 6 p.m. Eastern start time. Here is what’s been announced:
Night one:
- Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk defends against Cody Rhodes
- Hell in a Cell match: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
- Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan defends against IYO SKY
- Gunther vs. Nick Aldis
- Solo Sikoa, LA Knight & Royce Keys vs. Jacob Fatu & The Usos
- The Bellas & Paige vs. Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid)
Night two:
- World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns defends against Seth Rollins
- Interim WWE Women’s Championship ladder match: Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Chelsea Green vs. TBD (Giulia or Lash Legend)
- WWE Championship number one contender’s match: Sami Zayn vs. Finn Balor
- Human Monies on a Pole match: Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio
- United States Champion Trick Williams defends against Baron Corbin
- Intercontinental Champion Penta defends against Chad Gable
