First matches set for next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Danhausen vs. JD McDonagh set for WWE SNME

The first two matches for this month’s Saturday Night’s Main Event are set.

During a backstage segment on SmackDown, Danhausen told Matt Cardona that he would be wrestling JD McDonagh on July 18, which will take place at Madison Square Garden. This comes after the Judgment Day have spent several weeks feuding with Danhausen after he took their money. Paige & Brie Bella, meanwhile, will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Fatal Influence.

Cardona told Danhausen on Friday that he would have his back if needed. But Danhausen revealed that he already has backup, saying it was someone in New York that he would be contacting soon.

Also on this week’s show, Lainey Reid of Fatal Influence scored a win over Brie Bella, setting up their future title match.

Danhausen & New York

Danhausen has gained much attention in the New York area for uncursing the New York Knicks just prior to the NBA playoffs. Not only did they advance to the finals, but they defeated the San Antonio Spurs 4-1 to win their first NBA title since 1973. WWE has major plans to incorporate Danhausen in their advertising for the next SNME.

The Judgment Day became upset with Danhausen after he rejected their efforts to curse Oba Femi, leading Dominik Mysterio to lose in the King of the Ring semifinals. He also placed a curse on Liv Morgan right before her Queen of the Ring finals where she ended up losing to IYO SKY.
