Jey Uso advances in WWE King of the Ring tournament

Jey Uso advances in men's King of the Ring tournament.

The semifinals are now set in the men’s King of the Ring tournament.

Jey Uso advanced on Friday’s SmackDown, defeating Royce Keys, LA Knight, and Finn Balor in the last opening round match of the tournament. The finish had Solo Sikoa at ringside giving the spike to Knight, looking to help Keys who followed up with ultimate spinebuster. However, Keys didn’t see Usos on the top rope who connected with a splash, covering Knight to score the victory.

With the win, Uso will now move on to the next round, where he will take on Je’Von Evans. The other side of the bracket will see Oba Femi take on Dominik Mysterio. The winners of those matches will then meet at Night of Champions to determine the new King of the Ring and earn a title match at SummerSlam.

Uso has made it clear that if he wins the tournament, he will challenge Cody Rhodes for his WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Friday’s show opened with Uso telling that to Rhodes directly.

In the women’s Queen of the Ring tournament, Charlotte Flair emerged victorious on Friday, defeating Sol Ruca, Lyra Valkyria, and Jade Cargill to advance to the semifinals, where she’ll face Liv Morgan. Whoever wins will then face the winner between IYO SKY and Raquel Rodriguez.
