Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods drawing ‘a lot of excitement’ in AEW after WWE exit

New Day Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods from WWE.com

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have some within AEW hoping they end up with the company following their WWE departures.

PWInsider reported Saturday that there is “a lot of excitement in AEW circles” about the potential of Kingston and Woods coming into the company. Our own Bryan Alvarez has since confirmed this to be the case.

Regarding Woods and Kingston’s WWE departures, Alvarez wrote on Saturday:

We can also confirm that in the case of New Day, it was their decision to leave based on what TKO was offering for a new deal.

To be specific, New Day’s deals were not up. They were asked to restructure to TKO deals, they didn’t like the deals, so they were then granted their release.

Alvarez also noted that both Woods and Kingston will be under 90-day non-competes.

The Young Bucks once changed their bio on social media to mention they hope to wrestle New Day at some point:

AEW’s MJF and Cash Wheeler both posted references to Kingston and Woods on Saturday.
