Nia Jax-Charlotte Flair SummerSlam qualifier announced for next week’s SmackDown
Nia Jax failed to qualify for the SummerSlam women’s ladder match on Friday Night SmackDown. But she’ll get another chance next week
Jax was facing Jade Cargill in a qualifying match on SmackDown this week when Charlotte Flair attacked Cargill. The referee stopped the match and awarded the decision to Cargill due to disqualification. As a result, Cargill moved on to SummerSlam, while Jax did not.
Incensed, Jax attacked Flair, laid her out, and departed. Cargill also attacked Flair, laying her out with Jaded.
Later in the show, Jax and her tag team partner Lash Legend accosted Adam Pearce, insisting that Jax had been screwed and he needed to make things right. So he announced a match between Jax and Flair for next week’s show, with the winner advancing to SummerSlam.
Earlier in the show, Pearce had announced that Rhea Ripley would not be at SummerSlam after tearing her meniscus but should be back in action shortly thereafter. Thus, WWE would hold a five-woman ladder match at SummerSlam to crown an interim WWE Women’s Champion, with the winner presumably facing Ripley when she returns.
Tiffany Stratton and Cargill then went on to win qualifiers for the ladder match.
