Nick Aldis says Bret Hart was first to text him after WWE SummerSlam match announcement
Nick Aldis says his childhood hero was the first person to text him after his match against Gunther at SummerSlam was made official.
During a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Aldis named Bret Hart vs. The British Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992 as one of the greatest moments in SummerSlam history. He then revealed that Hart texted him after Aldis’ first-ever WWE match was made official.
Aldis said:
“Bret and Bulldog from SummerSlam ’92 is such an important matchup, such a key moment, such an iconic match. And to now be so fortunate to be friends with Bret, who really is my hero.”
“Bret was the first guy who texted me when the match got made official for SummerSlam, by the way. I was in New York City, and obviously we had our little dust-up at Fanatics and Hunter made the match there and then. Obviously, my phone was lighting up, but the first text message was from Bret Hart and I thought, ‘That’s a pretty significant thing for the nine-year-old me.’ That’s something that I wouldn’t have expected.”
Aldis also named Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect from SummerSlam 1991 as one of his favorite matches in the event’s history.

Aldis vs. Gunther was made official at WWE’s SummerSlam Kickoff event at Fanatics Fest in New York City on July 19. Aldis and Gunther were involved in a brawl on the stage before Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced that they would face each other at SummerSlam.
