Result of World Heavyweight title match at WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night Two
Roman Reigns is still World Heavyweight Champion.
The end of the second night of SummerSlam saw Roman Reigns retain his title over Seth Rollins in a match filled with references to their time as members of the Shield. One of the key points of the match was a re-creation of the group’s infamous breakup from 2014. Rollins had a chair as Reigns was draped on the middle rope, but opted not to use it. Rollins dropped the chair and the match continued, but eventually Reigns cut him off and connected with three spears for the victory.
After the match, Reigns recovered first and offered his fist in another reference to the Shield. Rollins got to his feet, placed his Shield mask between them, and followed suit to close out the show.
Remember the Shield
During the match, there were also several references to Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), with Rollins connecting with the wacky line while Reigns dropped Rollins with the dirty deeds double arm DDT.
Rollins called out Roman Reigns shortly after Night of Champions, setting up their match for SummerSlam. The feud focused heavily on their time as members of the Shield, playing into their long history. He also mentioned, despite the contrary, that Reigns had never beaten Rollins prior to Sunday.
