An animated series starring Rey Mysterio is coming to Cartoon Network Latin America next year.

It was announced on Thursday that "Rey Mysterio vs. The Darkness" will premiere on Cartoon Network Latin America in 2022. The series will feature 10 episodes. English and Spanish-language versions of the first episode aired at the end of Cartoon Network Latin America's announcement on YouTube, but the videos have since been made unavailable.

Here's the description for the show:

Rey Mysterio vs. The Darkness tells the story of Oscar, a wrestling fan, who will team up with his idol, Rey Mysterio, to face supernatural beings and fight against the forces of evil; villains from the world of wrestling and characters from Mexican traditions and the world of fantasy. Behind these extraordinary opponents is Uroboros, an evil fighter who uses dark forces that he does not fully understand. Rey Mysterio and Oscar must work together and do their best to defend the city and themselves from his evil plans.

Mysterio had hyped earlier this week that he would be revealing "some very exciting news" today.

The animated series was first announced in September 2020. It's from ¡Viva Calavera! Creative Studio, with Mysterio serving as an executive producer.

Rey and his son Dominik Mysterio are currently members of the Raw roster in WWE. They're set to face The Street Profits in the finals of a tournament next Monday to determine the next challengers for RK-Bro's Raw Tag Team titles.
