WWE files new The Miz-related trademark

WWE files new The Miz-related trademark

WWE has filed to trademark a new name possibly reserved for The Miz.

On August 7, 2026, the company filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the name “The Mike.” It was filed on an “intent to use” basis, as WWE is not claiming it has already used the name.

The purposes of the filing are listed specifically for wrestling and entertainment services. The application does not cover merchandise.

The filing of “The Mike” is likely in response to a running gag on The Pat McAfee Show involving Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, who has also been given the nickname “The Miz.”

Misiorowski and The Miz both appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on August 7 to debate who should get to use the nickname. McAfee introduced the WWE’s version of The Miz as “The Mike,” prompting Miz to insist that he is still “The Miz.”

Miz later wrote on X, “I am The Miz! The Mike will NOT become a thing!!!!”

McAfee responded, “Listen.. THE MIKE is a GREAT name.”
