WWE star Sheamus suffers nasty head wound in ‘gym fail’

Sheamus WWE WrestleMania 39

A gym-related incident recently caused WWE star Sheamus to suffer an awful looking head wound.

On Instagram today, the 48-year-old Sheamus posted a photo of blood dripping down his face and arm. Another photo then showed a close-up look at a wide gash on Sheamus’ head that caused the bleeding. He did not elaborate on what happened but captioned the post with “gym fail” and an emoji of someone lifting weights above their head.

Sheamus training for WWE in-ring return —

This comes as Sheamus, who underwent shoulder surgery near the end of 2025, has begun teasing an in-ring return. Last week, he shared that he was at the WWE Performance Center doing in-ring work with Myles Borne, Hank Walker, and Tank Ledger. Sheamus then posted yesterday that he was training with kickboxer Bernard Robinson.

“Anyone sleeping on Sheamus’ return to the squared circle hasn’t mixed-it-up with BERNARD ‘SWIFTKICK’ ROBINSON aka @swiftkick_gym aka coach,” Sheamus wrote. “Champions train Champions.”

The most recent match for Sheamus was on Raw in November 2025, where he teamed with John Cena & Rey Mysterio to defeat Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh. Due to his shoulder injury, Sheamus was forced to withdraw from WWE’s Last Time is Now tournament that decided Cena’s final opponent.

Sheamus hosts the YouTube series Celtic Warrior Workouts but, amid his injury, has not released a new episode in a few months.
