Jey Uso not medically cleared for WWE Royal Rumble

Jey Uso wasn’t medically cleared for the WWE Royal Rumble, according to Dave Meltzer.

The medical reason wasn’t given and his expected return is unknown. He wasn’t seen in the graphic for the Rumble on Friday, but was in it the week before. He was still listed for the match on WWE.com as recently as Sunday afternoon.

The 35-year-old was last seen in the ring losing to Shinsuke Nakamura on the January 15th SmackDown and hasn’t been on the show since. He has been part of the recent Roman Reigns/Kevin Owens angle that saw Reigns retain his WWE Universal title over Owens in a last man standing match at the Rumble.

Jey’s twin brother, Jimmy, is also on the sidelines as he recovers from spring 2020 knee surgery with an initial estimated recovery timetable of 6-to-9 months.

Last night’s men’s Rumble match was won by Edge and featured several surprise appearances and returns (Christian, The Hurricane, Kane, and Carlito) and a couple of absences (Uso and Keith Lee).
