WWE interested in bringing Braun Strowman back

In the wake of AEW’s recent and potentially future signings, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is interested in bringing Braun Strowman back.

Meltzer didn’t have any other details other than WWE’s interest.

Strowman (Adam Scherr) was released in June along with Aleister Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Ruby Riott and Santana Garrett. Black signed with AEW while Murphy reportedly has interest from several groups. Another recent cut — Andrade El Idolo — also signed with AEW in recent months.

Meltzer previously reported Strowman was released because of his contract and the feeling internally that he was two years past his peak. Additionally, the presence of other large talents like Omos and Commander Azeez made him expendable.

New Strowman merchandise surprisingly dropped on WWE Shop this week, raising questions as to whether the 37-year-old has re-signed already. While active on social media, Strowman hasn’t given any hints to his future. It’s believed he is on a traditional 90-day non-compete clause, meaning he would be ineligible to work elsewhere until early-September unless WWE allows him to do so.
