Kenny Omega to defend World title at AEW Redemption
New AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will put his title on the line at next weekend’s Redemption in his home country of Canada.
Omega will defend the gold against reigning TNT Champion Kevin Knight who called his shot during Wednesday’s Dynamite after an in-ring confrontation between Omega and Will Ospreay who gets his title shot at August’s All In.
Knight was promised an opportunity by then-champion MJF for participating on his team in the 12-man cage match at last month’s Forbidden Door. It will be his third shot at the title, falling short in losses to MJF and Darby Allin, both taking place this year.
While the two have been on the same team twice, this will be their first-ever meeting.
Omega defeated MJF for the title on last week’s Beach Break edition of Dynamite, kickstarting his second run with the gold.
