Dominik Mysterio explains why Mexican fans have embraced El Grande Americano
Dominik Mysterio gave his opinion on why Mexican wrestling fans have embraced El Grande Americano.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani on Wednesday, Dominik said fans in Mexico love Americano because he took the time to embrace Mexican culture.
Dominik said:
“I don’t know where this guy comes from, but I will say this: the fact that El Grande Americano is fluent in Spanish and can speak the language, can go in and out of English and Spanish, the people love him for it.
He took the time to appreciate the culture, to better himself by learning the language and getting better at it. He embraced the culture. He embraced the people. And the Mexican people love him for it.
That’s something that I didn’t do, because I went down there and instantaneously received hate, so I gave hate back.
With El Grande, he welcomed them with open arms. He embraced the Mexican culture, and the Mexicans embraced him.”
When asked whether he prefers performing in front of Mexican crowds for AAA or American crowds for WWE, Dominik said he finds the Mexican crowds a little rowdier.
He continued:
“Honestly, it’s a very different style of crowd. I’ve been very blessed and fortunate to perform all over the world and experience crowds from everywhere. But when it comes to the Mexican crowd and an American crowd, Mexicans are just rowdy, man. It doesn’t seem like they care when it comes to throwing stuff at you.”
On Saturday’s edition of AAA on Fox, Americano and Dominik teamed together against Daga and Angel. Dominik ended up abandoning his partner during the match, allowing him to be attacked by other members of the Perros del Mal faction. Dominik also aligned with Dorian Roldan and Omos at the end of the episode.
