Friday Update
— There will be no show today with Garrett Gonzales as I’m out of town for the funeral of Kim Wood in Cincinnati. I’ll be back on Sunday. Bryan will be covering the first night of SummerSlam and I’ll be back Sunday night covering SummerSlam and hopefully tonight’s CMLL and some G-1 as well.
— SmackDown tonight is from Green Bay, WI. Damien Priest & R-Truth defend the WWE tag titles against The Viking Raiders, the AAA tag champs. Giulia faces Lash Legend for the final spot in the women’s ladder match. There will be a Cody Rhodes/CM Punk face-to-face. There were 4,343 tickets out as of earlier today.
— A correction from the new issue of the Observer. In the article on the death of Tony Scarlo, there are a few graphs about him bringing Lou Thesz and Dara Singht to England as a promoter While he has said that story in many interviews and the story was also from the Wrestling Heritage historical U.K. site where he talked about it, it is in fact a made up story. We apologize and have corrected it.
— Arena Mexico is sold out for the 12th straight Friday tonight for a unique PPV show on MyAEW starting at 9:30 p.m. Eastern. This show does officially break the record as best we can find for most sellouts in a calendar year in one building that holds more than 10,000 fans. This would be the 22nd Arena Mexico sellout this year.
