Monday Update
– Bryan and I will be back talking with Wrestling Observer Radio tonight talking Raw and the rest of the wrestling and MMA news.
– All Japan Pro Wrestling Company Ltd. is being dissolved and merged into the Musashi Institute of Technology Company, Lt d. It’s not anything notable to wrestling fans. All Japan President Tsuyoki Fukuda owns the Musashi Institute of Technology Company Ltd, so for corporate purposes he’s merging them into one company. The MIT company is a real estate and outdoor sign company. I guess you could make this a story saying that after 54 years, the company that was formed by Giant Baba is no more, but that company has been no more for a quarter century.
– Raw tonight from Norfolk, VA, has Sol Rua & ? vs. Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez, Austin Theory vs. Akira Tozawa plus Stephanie Vaquer and Becky Lynch appear. They had 8,477 tickets out at last report so it will be sold out.
– Some notes on the WWE schedule released today. The 1/18 Raw show will be from Glasgow, Scotland. So it will be over before the NFL Playoff game in prime time. Similarly the 1/25 show in Dublin will start early and avoid going head-to-head with the NCAA Division I football championship game.
– CMLL tonight at Arena Puebla, still has tickets left as best I can tell, has Titan & Mascara Dorada vs; The Black Tigers, Lee Johnson & Blake Christian vs. Templario & Esfinge, The Calvera Brothers vs. Star Jr. & Star Black, Stigma & Arakalils vs. Virus & Cancerbero and two other bouts.
– Dynamite & Collision for Wednesday in Las Vegas at the Pearl Theater is sold out, but that doesn’t mean a ton since the place is set up for 1,500 tickets.

- Jon Moxley vs.Jack Perry in the Continental Cup
- Jay White vs. David Finlay in the Continental Cup
- MJF vs. Mike Bailey vs. Nick Wayne for the No. 2 spot in the Casino Gauntlet at Wembley Stadium.
They are also taping Roderick Strong vs. Kyle O’Reilly and Nigel McGuinness vs. Katsuyori Shibata for the Continental Cup
– We’ve gotten a lot of feedback in particular on yesterday’s Marigold match with Sareee & Takumki Iroha vs. Mayu Iwatani & Victoria Yuzuki from Ebara Wave Arena in Tokyo as being one of the best tag team matches of the year.
– Mistico & Bandido beat El Clon & Hechicero in the main event last night at Arena Mexico. I was just told way over 10,000 fans in attendance. Tomorrow’s Arena Mexico show is Mascara Dorada & Neon vs. Hechicero & Volador Jr. plus Esfinge & Xelhua vs. Black Tiger & Rugido and Blue Panther & Atlantis vs. Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja. Guadalajara has Titan & Zandokan Jr. & Rafaga Jr vs. Black Tiger Romero & Lee Johnson & Blake Christian.
– Dark Side of the Ring tomorrow night will be on Paul Orndorff. I am looking forward to that one.
– NXT tomorrow has Grayson Waller vs. Cruz Montana for a shot at Tony D’Angelo’s title, Zaria vs. Wren Sinclair for the North American title, Shawn Spears & Lizzy Rain vs Nikko Vance & Izzi Dame plus Dion Lennox vs. Saquon Shugars.
– A Disney Legends Awards ceremony will stream on Disney+ and Hulu on Saturday night at 9 p.m. that will feature Dwayne Johnson being inducted into the 2026 Class as a Disney Legend.
– The Islam Makhachev vs. Ian Machado Garry welterweight title match will headline Saturday’s UFC 330 in Philadelphia along with Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillain Robertson for the women’s strawweight title. CBS will be airing the one hour Countdown show at 8 p.m. on Friday night head-to-head with Smackdown. They are not airing any fights on Saturday. The entire show is a Paramount + exclusive.
– Regarding the AJ Styles and Avery Styles comments, GCW has contacted us to say that while they respect and like Arik Cannon, he does not speak for GCW, he speaks for himself.
– Saturday’s G-1 semifinals at Sumo Hall is said to be sold out due to the retirement of Hiroyoshi Tenzan, who had tons of memorable matches at that building. Tenzan will have a 5:00 retirement match with Satoshi Kojima, his long-time tag team partner as well as frequent opponent in memorable world title matches.
– G-1 tomorrow at 4 a.m. for B block has Gabe Kidd vs. Yuya Uemura, Drilla Moloney vs. Ren Narita, Henare vs. Zack Sabre Jr., and Aaron Wolf vs. Callum Newman.
– Fred Ottman (Typhoon, Tugboat, Shockmaster, Uncle Fred turned 70 today. Savio Vega turned 62. Roadkill turned 50. Wade Barrett turned 46. Wally Dusek of the famed Dusek Brothers was born on this day in 1909. Jim Crockett Jr., a Hall of Fame promoter, was born on this day in 1944. Brett Sawyer was born on this day in 1960. Nicole Bass was born on this day in 1964. Steve Musulin aka Steve Travis, who was a key part of the Zahorian investigation, was 68 when he died eight years ago today. (thanks to Tony Richards)
